Lent in the Spirit of St. Francis

Our Journey of Mercy
“We have this beautiful place that is one of the best-kept secrets in Cincinnati,” says Fr. Clifford Hennings, Director of Shrine Ministry at St. Anthony Shrine in Mt. Airy. A Lenten speaker series seemed like a good way to introduce new people to such a valuable spiritual resource.
For the three-week series of Wednesday talks, Clifford is building upon last year’s Advent series, which was based upon the Church’s approach to Advent preparation. “For Lent, I wanted to focus a little bit more on the Franciscan side of things.”
Our Journey of Mercy Reflection Series at the Shrine are Wednesdays from 7-8 p.m. and will feature:
March 27: “The Spirituality of Pilgrimage” with Fr. Mark Soehner, OFM
“Franciscan friars really popularized the Stations of the Cross,” Clifford says. This will be a spiritual reflection on “why we do it and what it means.” Fr. Mark will also talk about the friars’ walking pilgrimage through Virginia in 2009, “so people can look on Lent as their pilgrimage as well.”

April 10: “Reconciliation: A Sacrament of Hope” with Fr. Clifford Hennings, OFM
