Fr. Larry Dunham, OFM - Working For Peace
“Peace is ultimately going to be accomplished by people living together, knowing each other long enough to respect each other, respect their differences and learn to then live with each other in peace and harmony."
-- Fr. Larry Dunham, OFM, from his video
Living together in peace, as brothers, at the example of their founder, St. Francis of Assisi, is at the heart of the Franciscan charism.
Fr. Larry has brought that peace and joy to his many assignments over the years including a Navy military chaplain, social worker, Provincial leader, and now as the newly appointed Guardian and Commissary of the Monastery of the Holy Land of America located in Washington, D.C.
In this video, Fr. Larry speaks of the responsibilities for the places and people of the Custody of the Holy Land. He has great respect for those friars who live in difficult and dangerous places, especially Syria.
The Friars Minor were appointed the official guardians of the Holy Land by the Pope since the beginning of the Franciscan Order over 800 years ago and continues today.
St. Anthony of Padua is the Patron Saint of the Custody of the Holy Land and in honor of this year’s Feast, Fr. Larry narrates a video on the amazing life of St. Anthony.
In tribute to the former guardian, Fr. Jeremy Harrington, OFM, the Monastery produced this video and Thank You E-Card.
