St. Anthony Shrine to Host Transitus Service
The Transitus of St. Francis
The night that St. Francis of Assisi passed from this life on earth to union with God is celebrated each year on October 3rd. On this night, Franciscan communities around the world gather to remember Francis’ admonitions to his followers to praise Christ and love God. As he welcomed “my sister death,” he asked that the Gospel of St. John be read aloud to him. St. Francis died joyfully surrounded by his fellow friars.
