What a Wonderful World
From Provincial Minister Fr. Jeff Scheeler, OFM:
“On Wednesday afternoon an hour opened up and a voice inside told me to get out of the office and take a walk. I obeyed the inner voice and walked down to Fountain Square and back. I listened to NPR and did some people-watching. Our neighborhood has such an interesting combination of people. It’s not like walking in the quiet of the autumn woods (I need to do that, too), but it was good to get out in the fresh air, move some muscles, see all the people leaving work and experience the hubbub of the city. I need to do this more often. Perhaps you do as well.
We all build time for prayer and meditation into our day, and that surely helps, but I confess sometimes that too can become just one more thing to do. It’s good to stop, or at least slow down, take a deep breath, and take it all in.
For some reason this made me think of Louis Armstrong’s What a Wonderful World, so I Googled it and it made a nice way to end my little time of respite. Give him a listen; why not take two minutes and pray along?”
